Education & Participation Committee

Meeting Time: The 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6pm at Central Office (1000 Elmwood Avenue)

What does the Education & Participation committee do? The Education & Participation committee is responsible for fostering and encouraging group participation at the Rochester Area Intergroup, Inc. This is done by providing training to new Intergroup Representatives, putting on workshops for the fellowship about various A.A. related topics, and reaching out and educating groups about what the Intergroup does and why we need volunteers.

How do I get in touch with the Education & Participation committee? You can call our Central Office at (585) 232-6720 or send us an email at office1@rochester-ny-aa.org. Our phone line is answered twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. You will leave your contact information with whoever answers and they will forward that information on to the committee. Contact the committee chair at education_participation_committee@rochester-ny-aa.org.

What types of service work can A.A. members do at the Education & Participation committee? At the Education & Participation Committee, A.A. members learn the ins and outs of the Rochester Area Intergroup so they can visit groups and encourage them to participate, learn to put on local workshops (including selecting topics, finding speakers, promoting, and throwing the event), and provide training to new intergroup reps as well as homegroups. Homegroup training range from the secretary and treasurer training to how to run a group conscience or group inventory.
